What is RCPD?
The Radio Center for People with Disabilities is a 501(c)3 non profit agency, founded to recruit, train and place people with disabilities in paying, off-air jobs in the radio business. The change made in 2000 to remove the $25,000 annual earnings cap without jeopardizing medicare/medicaid benefits has changed the employment horizon for thousands of people with disabilities.


How can I Become involved with the RCPD?

Do I need experience in radio?
No. What you need is an interest in the business, an idea of what you'd like to do and the ability to work.


What kind of jobs are available?
At the RCPD, you can be trained in the areas of production, engineering, traffic, sales,promotion and network affiliate relations. We will assist all candidates in finding employment.


Is there a fee?
There is no charge for participation in the RCPD.


Where is the RCPD?
Currently we are located at 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 101, Chicago, IL, 60611. The RCPD is headquartered in a fully accessible building with accessible parking.


Is there transportation to RCPD?
We work with a para transit service, Chicago Disability Transit, that provides special rates for RCPD trainees. CDT’s number is 312-738-1000.

Who started the RCPD?
Brad Saul, a 25 year radio veteran, founded the Center. Brad has produced documentaries, musical entertainment and various sports programming for radio. Over the years he has been a recipient of numerous awards. Brad has Multiple Sclerosis and is keenly aware of the challenges of people with disabilities.


Who endorses the RCPD?
Bill Kennard, Former Chaiman of the FCC, major group broadcasters including Clear Channel, Emmis and Bonneville. In addition are many companies that work in the radio industry such as Arbitron and Radio & Records, as well as many Fortune 1000 companies.


Who funds the RCPD?
Funding comes from private and public sectors.
